Yesterday, information appeared on Softpedia that Google was going to change the functionality of the back button in the Chrome browser. Typically, the user, clicking it, returns to the previous web page. But recently, this has not always been the case. A lot of sites have appeared on the network, when viewing which the back button is disabled.

Unscrupulous owners of these resources tend to keep users on their pages for as long as possible. This allows you to improve the behavioral factors of the site, in particular, the bounce rate. Resources with a low failure rate in the eyes of search engines are considered more trust, and therefore are ranked higher in search results and receive more organic traffic. Softpedia notes that the new back button feature is currently under active development. It will be available in the next browser updates. After that, unscrupulous sites will no longer be able to disable the "back" button, and the user will no longer have to close the tab to go to the previous page.
