Xiaomi and IKEA are going to create tables that support the wireless charging technology of smartphones and tablets. This technology is called WPC. It is based on the work of two induction coils. One works as a transmitter of energy, the second as a receiver. When the wireless charging device is connected to the network, voltage appears in the built-in coil and a magnetic field appears around it. And when a smartphone or tablet with a receiving coil is in this field, electricity begins to be generated in it.

There is a Qi standard, which states that for full charging, the distance between the transmitter and the receiver should not exceed 5 cm. That is, gadgets with wireless charging should almost touch each other. This scheme is going to be implemented by companies in their new tables. It is known that mobile gadgets will not be charged in some specific places on the countertop, but on its entire surface. The maximum charging power is 20 watts. There is no other technical information about the new product yet.
