On the day sales started, experts from iFixit disassembled the new iPhone and delivered a verdict on its maintainability. The rating is the same as that of the iPhone XS and XS Max, but the internal device of the “budget” iPhone is different from them.
After removing the display module, a rectangular battery was detected, in contrast to the L-shaped one in previously released models. The battery capacity is different: in XR it amounted to 2942 mAh, while for XS it is 2658 mAh, and for XS Max - 3174 mAh. It is noteworthy that XR lives the longest.
An interesting feature was the modular tray for SIM cards, which will allow you to replace it faster in case of breakage. In addition, the cost of replacing it will decrease, since it is no longer necessary to change the printed circuit board in the event of a breakdown in one connector. By the way, the internal design, like the external one, resembles a cross between last year’s iPhone 8 and iPhone X.
The verdict of experts is 6 points out of 10. Of the pluses, an easy replacement of the display and the battery is noted, from controversial points - some bolts with a unique pattern, as well as moisture protection. A bright minus is the glass on the rear panel. It easily breaks and does not change separately from the entire case.
