Flexible and transparent displays haunt LG engineers for many years. During the CES 2019 exhibition, they first demonstrated a translucent TV based on an OLED matrix. And from a recently published patent, it becomes clear that the Korean IT giant intends to use its achievements in smartphones.

A package of documents was filed with the US Patent Office 3 years ago. However, it was approved only on April 9 of this year. The patent is called "Mobile Terminal". It describes a foldable smartphone, the display of which will be flexible and transparent. The screen of the novelty is quite large, and it is located on both sides of the matrix.
The smartphone itself is laid out so that it can also be used as a tablet. When the device is folded, the screen is divided into right and left parts, capable of displaying different content, both transparent and opaque. And the level of transparency depends on what angle the display is located. If the device is used as a tablet, it is almost opaque.
