With the upcoming Nike Adapt BB, lace-up shoes have become more common. Puma did not lag behind the competitor in this regard and presented its solution.

The company spent the last three years working on a new model - a long time, because they were faced with the task of creating something intuitive, practical and affordable. So the Fi sneakers were released - shoes designed for training and everyday use, costing $ 330 per pair and weighing 428 grams - 45 of which are from the electronic module.
Lacing is carried out by a special battery motor located on the top. It also controls the tension of the laces. The motor is powered by a rechargeable battery located in the waterproof compartment of the sole. Fi have blue LED flashlights that light up when the engine is running or when charging. The indicators also show the battery level.
It is very simple to control the lacing mechanism: a swipe input is implemented in the module. To tighten the laces you need to drag your finger from sock to ankle - the motor will work until it feels the necessary tension. There are three tension options. The owner chooses the right one, and the sneakers remember his preferences. To release the shoes you need to swipe your finger in the opposite direction - from the ankle to the toe. Fi can also be controlled via a smartphone. The app also shows the battery level of each shoe.
