Yesterday, Apple recognized its latest-generation MacBook keyboards as problematic. This was done in order to avoid fines and lawsuits. In 2015, immediately after the release of the 12-inch MacBook, many users began to complain about the new butterfly keyboard mechanism. The keys on it stuck more often than in the previous version, and they broke, according to statistics, much more often than usual.
The company decided to announce an extension of the warranty period for MacBooks with this type of keyboard installed up to four years from the date of purchase. The list includes all generations of the 12-inch MacBook, starting in 2015, MacBook Pro 13 and 15, starting in 2016, regardless of the presence of Touch Bar.
According to Apple, the manufacturer is ready to service laptops if they experience problems such as duplicating keys when pressed, sticky buttons, or lack of reaction to pressing. The company undertakes to correct these deficiencies for free at authorized service centers. Those who made repairs at their own expense will be paid monetary compensation.
